Primary

Our Primary program is a prepared environment for children ages 2.5 through Kindergarten. In the primary class, children have the opportunity of learn at their own pace and choose their own activities according to their needs and stage of development. The program is divided into four working areas, where the children are able to develop their cognitive abilities through direct experiences.

Practical Life

The Practical Life exercises and presentations welcome the child into the prepared environment and give him the foundation for all the other areas and exercises.  This area is composed of five groups. Each group has a series of exercises which are designed to give the child a sense of being and belonging, established through participation in daily activities. Through Practical Life materials and exercises, the child learns about his surroundings and all about what it is to be human and a member of a community.

Sensorial

Sensorial materials are tools for children to refine each of their senses. Each material isolates a specific quality: size, color, weight, texture, smell, flavor, etc. These materials allow the child to find order and meaning to the world, raising his capacity of perception, observation and admiration for everything that surrounds him.

Mathematics

These materials help the child to learn and understand mathematical concepts when working with concrete materials that lead him intuitively to abstract concepts. These area offers the child sensorial impressions of the numbers and set the foundation for algebra and geometry.

Language

The language area follows the child's natural stages in establishing his language and communication skills. The child begins with auditory discrimination (sounds games) that will allow him to develop symbol and sign recognition. This process will guide him to develop pre-reading skills. After the child's mental and physical foundations have been incorporated, the child will be introduced to the mechanics of writing and letter formation.
